Ferrari Enzo Encounter

When you think of performance cars there are a few that automatically pop into your head, Lamborghini and Porsche for instance; but none make such an impact as the Ferrari Enzo. To understand what type of impact this magnificent car creates you have to go back to its roots and to the man, which created a movement, Mr. Enzo Ferrari.
To learn more about the history of Mr. Enzo Ferrari open this link: Enzo Ferrari Biography
Last weekend I had an encounter with a 2003 Ferrari Enzo, when it suddenly pulled out in front of my Yukon. I tried to keep up but the car handled the curvy street as if my SUV was in park. After a mile or so I had the opportunity to catch the machine. That only happened when it was parked getting gas.
I have to say the encounter left me memorized enough that I had to pull up next to the car. I didn’t want to frighten the owner but driving a car like that I am sure he gets many more of my kind pulling over to stare.
Maybe one day when Bigbaer.com reaches the levels of an MTV.com I can afford to dish out $700,000, but right now I am good with my Yukon.
Specs:
660 Horsepower
6.0 L V12 Engine
6 Speed manual overdrive
8 MPG (City) OUCH!!!!!
12 MPG (Highway)

Dwight Trible & The Life Force Trio - Love is the Answer
Dwight Trible is a legend on the quiet, a retrospective waiting to happen. Over a remarkable career, this Los Angeles native has worked with everyone from Bobby Hutcherson and Charles Lloyd to Harry Belafonte. He is the vocalist with the Pharaoh Sanders Quartet and is also the vocal director for the Horace Tapscott Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra, a Los Angeles institution with a history stretching back forty years and an active engagement in the city’s Black community since the Watts Uprising.A couple of years ago Carlos Niño (best known over here as one half of Ammoncontact) invited Trible onto his radio show and from there a friendship and musical journey began. As Trible puts it, “you have to be careful what you say to Carlos, because he makes it happen!”. A chance comment about making some kind if hip hop record set Niño off on the journey which led to “Love Is The Answer”.
Enthused by the power of Trible’s vision, Carlos started speaking to the new luminaries of the LA scene about collaborating with this elder statesman and before he knew it he had an LP which combined sixties-inspired avant garde/spiritual jazz with the hottest beats the city had to offer. Sa-Ra Creative Partners, Madlib, Daedelus, members of Platinum Pied Pipers, Jay-Dee - wherever he went, Niño found only enthusiam and the project began to take shape…
From “Equipoise” on which Sa-Ra revisit 80s synth funk and give it their signature loping twist, through “Freedom Dance” (from Trible’s some-time drummer, multi-instrumentalist Dexter Story) with its Stetsasonic-meets-Fela vibe, on into the sheer oddness of Madlib’s “Waves of Infinite Harmony” the more straight-up boombap of “The 10th Jewel” (featuring the one and only Brother J of X-Clan fame and Sa-Ra’s second production contribution), to the mellow, looping guitars of the title track and finally through a last third that probably peaks with the incantatory “Musician’s Union” (by Ammoncontact) and the beautiful “Constellations” (which grew out of a piano loop contributed by Scott Herren to the Piano Overlord project), this is a record of pure sonic invention and all round goodness.
It is also, given Trible’s involvement, a record which is unfashionably lacking in cynicism, one which truly believes that “love is the answer” to the world’s ills. If the time, effort and beauty which result from these inter-generational collaborations are anything to go by, the great man might even be right...

Laura Veirs Year of the Meteors
"Veirs' songs qualify as poems: careful, word-conscious, narrative, neither foggy nor overwritten, and tend to give you a take on regular life experience that you don't quite expect." -The New York TimesA Seattle resident by way of Colorado, Veirs' background in geology and kinship with the rugged landscape meld together with her punk performing roots to form an unusual musical outlook. Her recordings have elicited overwhelming praise in the U.K., where the Independent called Carbon Glacier "the most enthralling album I have encountered this year's benchmark by which future Americana releases will be judged" and Mojo said, "Laura Veirs might be the bridge between the alt-country ghetto and the Sheryl Crow-revering mainstream." Veirs spent most of 2004 touring in support of her Nonesuch debut, the hauntingly beautiful Carbon Glacier. She then worked her way around the States, where she was still just being discovered. The experience was at times heady, other times grueling, and she incorporated it into her new songs. Year of Meteors is no ordinary travelogue, but it will definitely take you on a remarkable journey. But don't mistake Laura Veirs for a singer-songrwriter. This is a band record: a fertile collaboration between Veirs and her studio band, the Tortured Souls (who often play live with her). Produced by Tortured Soul band member Tucker Martine, Year of Meteors' lyrics include dream-like images of sky and sea, punctuated by guitar bursts, handclaps and melodic keyboards and strings. In addition to Martine's percussion and "beats" the album features Steve Moore (piano, organs), Karl Blau (bass, guitar, vocals), and Eyvind Kang (viola). Don't miss Laura on tour with Sufjan Stevens this fall: 9/7New York, NY @ Joe's Pub 9/8Somerville, MA @ Somerville Theater* 9/9Montreal, QC @ Cabaret La Tulipe* 9/10Toronto, ON @ Trinity - St. Paul's Centre* 9/11Detroit, MI @ Majestic Theatre* 9/13Cleveland, OH @ Beachland Ballroom* 9/14Newport, KY @ Southgate House* 9/16Chicago, IL @ Metro* A video for the track "Galaxies" is being directed by Terri Timely (Joanna Newsom, The Wrens). e-card: Laura Veirs Year of the Meteors

Ibrahim Ferrer of Buena Vista Social Club Dies
Ibrahim Ferrer, an icon of traditional Cuban music and a leading voice of the Buena Vista Social Club
is dead. Ferrer was 78 years old and suffered from emphysema. During the course of his long career, revitalized with the release and subsequent world-wide popularity of the Buena Vista Social Club (original release date: September 16, 1997) Ferrer was known for his trademark gray cap, his high-energy and ever present humor. He was passionate about Cuba's traditional "son" music of the 1940s and 1950s, reintroducing it, along with fellow Buena Vista Social Club performers (under the direction of producer Ry Cooder), for new generations of fans.
In 1999, Ferrer was featured in one of a string of albums that followed, Buena Vista Social Club Presents Ibrahim Ferrer, and won a Latin Grammy for best new artist in 2000.
Two other well-known members of the original Buena Vista group, singer Compay Segundo and pianist Ruben Gonzalez
, died in 2003.
Ay Candela Lyrics
Ay candela, candela, candela, me quemo aé.
bien placentero:
¡Y ahora si quieren bailar, búsquense
otro timbalero!Ay candela, candela, candela, me quemó aé.
Oye, Faustino Orama' y sus compañeros,
necesito que me apaguen el fuego.
Margarita llama pronto a los bomberos para
que vengan a apagar el fuego.
Oye, si estás perdida llama a los siete ceros,
y asi vendrán más pronto los bomberos.
Ay candela, candela, candela, me quemo aé,
mama ¡Aaaay!Tilán tilán
Didilán didilánMargarita que me quemo
Yo quiero seguir gozando
La candelame está llevando
Me gusta seguir guarachando
me quemo, me quemo.
Mira que me quemo, oye, yo quiero
seguir guarachando.
Mira mama que yo vengo quemando.
Faustino Orama' tú está acabando
Mira se quema, se quema
Pero mira mi mami se quema
Oye se quema, se quemaOh fire, fire, fire, I'm burning!
Oh fire, fire, fire, I'm burning!
A rodent put on a dance for some great amusement
He chose a mouse as his drummer, to play for the whole day.
An elegant and amiable cat came along too,
'Good evening my friend'
He said to the drummer
'I can play too,
And you can take a rest'.
The mouse left the room half-crazy,
'Now I'll have to go and rest!'
And the cat played a lighthearted danzón in his delightful way.
The mouse got up on the palm-tree roof and announced politely:
'And now if you want to dance, find yourself another drummer!'[English translation]
Oh fire, fire, fire, I'm burning!Listen, Faustino Orama' and friends,
I need someone to put out the flames.
Margarita call the fire-men quickly, to put out the flames.
Listen, if you are lost, dial seven zeros,
That way the fire-brigade might turn up.
Oh fire, fire, fire, I burnt myself,
Mamma, ay!Tilán, tilán
Didilán didilánMargarita I'm burning
I like it, I can't stop
The fire is taking me with it
I don't want to stop
This afternoon it'll be time to end
We'll carry on playing as we choose
When a woman bends over
She opens her mind
When a man looks at her
His brain just stops
I like one thing about you
It's not hard to see
From the belly down, from the waist up
Look, he's burning, burning, mama
Look, he's burning, burning, mama
Look, mama, I'm burning
Look, call the fire-brigade, tell them to put out the fire
Look, I'm burning up
But I don't want to stop
Look, Báyamo is burning,
look, Songo is a blaze
Look, La Maya is burning, listen to the whistle blowing.
Malagüen is in trouble mama
Santiago de Cuba can set you alight
He's burning, burning, burning, listen
look, I'm burning, I'm burning.
Look, I'm burning
I can't stop myself.
Look, mama I'm burning up.
Faustino Orama' you are coming to a close
Look, he's burning, he's burning
But look, mama, he's burning
Listen, he's burning, he's burning.

Rafael Palmeiro "Dumb Ass"
Rafael Palmeiro Dumb Ass!
What gets me about this Jabronie is that its not like he has just started using the roids. I mean this is the same guy that a few months back testified in front of Congress that "I never used steroids period." What a dumb ass! Another thing, which is funny about this mess, is that in the beginning of the season he wasn’t hitting anything, he needed 78 or so more hits to get to 3,000. Looks like he juiced it up to get his numbers.
He should of have done it gracefully get the 3,000 hit, even if it took an entire season, its not like he wasn’t going to Cooperstown, 3,000 hits, 500 Home Runs. Dumb Ass! Your not going to Cooperstown now.
