Chicago's Hall of FameThe Hall of Fame sound is a hot blend of popular radio songs and the underground grit of true hip hop It's also commercial [not a bad thing!] and listener friendly for all ages. It is a different sound and they admit it freely. In fact, it is something to be proud of.
When I first saw Hall of Fame perform they were opening for Naughty by Nature at Chicago's House of Blues. The show was sold out and the HOB is not a small venue! The place was packed... and rowdy; everyone was waiting for Naughty. As the house lights dimmed and Hall of Fame took the stage I remeber thinking, "These cats better get busy and get off... Cuz this crowd is not gonna show any love to any openers." Little did I know. Ron and Dinky, the duo collectively known as Hall of Fame, did not waste anytime at all. It was all about professionalism, showmanship and entertainment. Opening with their self-titled trademark song Hall of Fame [back-up by Deja Vu] Rondevous and Dinky immediately got the crowd's attention... and mine. They were good, rela good in fact. When they went into another of their hot songs, Don't Stop Don't Quit, I did not want them to... neither did the crowd who was now one solid mass of people bouncin' to the music. When Hall of Fame performed Bounce Wit Me, they did not have to beg for volunteers. I do not think it would have been possible to keep the crowd from bouncin' - I know I would not want to try! Hall of Fame is Chicago's own hip hop team. Ron and Dinky have created a very Hip Pop flavor of hip hop... danceable, very listenable, impossible to ignore!

Hall of Fame Real Audio - Real Hip Pop
The Hall of Fame sound can't be classified in just one genre of music. It's not pop, and it's not hip hop. It makes you feel good; it makes you dance. It's hip pop. Hip-Pop? Hip Pop Hip-Hop! Music University 101Hip-Pop? What is it? Definition: well, it's not official for sure, but hip pop is a sound that is lighter, bouncier and just good to move to. Dancin' music? Yeah, some of that fo' sho, but unlike heavy and dark-themed versions of hip hop, Hall of Fame's sound is closer to the traditional pop sound; just with a real urban flavor. It's upbeat music. Music for the Clubs! I've seen Hall of Fame perform in many different venues here in Chicago; from the House of Blues, to the Cubby Bear Lounge and even the Metro. This is music that everyone can get into. Tight harmonies and an infectious mix of hip hop and r&b that draws audiences wins fans. Hall of Fame has performed at BIGBAER.com's King of The Court Music Industry Basketball Tournament 2000 & 2001, and they will be onstage for King of the Court 2002. We know good talent when we see it. Future Hall of Fame? Hard to say, in today's current music industry situation it has become even more difficult for new talent to get signed. The record labels have cut A&R budgets and even released artists alredy under contract. One thing for certain, Ron and Dinky of HOF are doing things right. They could serve as text-book examples of how independent artists need to self-promote. A classic example of an artist who kept at it and built a large local following until it grew so big that the record labels had to take notice in St. Louis MO.'s own Nelly. Whether Hall of Fame can achieve the same remains to be seen. Though they should: HOF definately has the talent - Jack "papa" Baer - March 2, 2002 Featured Artists: Get the Goods!
