Laya Fisher

Who the hell is she? Laya Fisher is an independent artist with so much testosterone that she will have no problems competing in the male dominated music business. When Laya reaches down, I am certain she has no problem counting to two... big ones at that! - read on:

Born and raised stateside and now living in Brisbane Australia, Laya Fisher is exactly the kind of artist that I love oh so very much. Her lyrics reflect her personal past (and present!) in a style that anyone whoever took a writing course will tell you is right on point: Wrtie about what you know!

Emotional tragedy and rejection, sexual adventure and not so hidden lust, Laya holds nothing back and makes no apologies. Her music grabs you low and takes no quarter.

I will not insult her by telling you that she sounds like so and so... that is left to those who cannot comprehend the inertia behind an artist who is creating a definitive style.

I will tell you this however: Laya Fisher's style is still growing. Maturing would not be the right word... yet. Laya draws upon many influences and like a technically adept maestro she serves up unique lyrical flavors and diverse melodies at the wave of a wand.

Listeners with eclectic tastes will undoubtably appreciate her range and depth. The four songs offered on Laya's D.A.M. CD (available from MP3.COM) will evoke strong emotions in some and serious dance grooves in others; it all depends on the listeners frame of mind.

If you are looking for songs with meaning they are here (read her lyrics) and at the same time if you just want to dance to a very solid groove they are here as well.

None of her four offerings will disappoint They all have true substance and are unique unto themselves. Laya's diversity is at work here.

On a personal note: I feel confident enough in Laya's abilities to suggest that she take her song "Obvious" and rework a version that is more in the R&B/Soul vein.

The lyrics cry out for this treatment. Listen to the song and you will here Laya's vocals reaching out in this direction: amazing!

I have more than a little experince in this genre; I know the qualities: Obvious could be a huge commercial hit with the right production behind it.

All this is a matter of taste and I do admit that I am expressing nothing more than my own opinions here. Still, I have this feeling...

Listen to Laya's songs, visit her at her own website (be sure to sign her guestbook!) and pick up a copy of her D.A.M. CD at MP3.COM all the links are listed the menu here. Do it.
