CCMA 2005-2006 Board Confirmed
(PRWEB) October 28, 2005 -- The Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) has recently confirmed the election and appointment of its Board of Directors and Executive Committee for 2005 - 2006.
Current Chair of the CCMA Heather Ostertag stated, "I am very proud of the team that we have in place to work at furthering the development of the Canadian country music industry. We have a lot of diverse expertise and talent serving on the CCMA Board and I know great things will get done this year."
The CCMA Board of Directors is comprised of eight Elected Directors who are voted on by membership, and a slate of up to seven Appointed Directors who are invited to serve on the Board by the Elected Directors.
The slate of Elected Directors for the 2005 - 06 year are:

Ralph Murphy, of ASCAP, Nashville, TN

Paul Brandt and Sylvia Tyson continue to serve as Honourary Directors of the CCMA.
Since 1976 the Canadian Country Music Association has been a pivotal member of the entertainment industry in Canada as a federally charted, non-profit trade organization. For 30 years the CCMA has worked to protect the heritage of; advocate the development of; and enact laws favourable to the Canadian country music industry domestically and internationally. Through the use of education, marketing and commu nications, plus recognition, the CCMA works on behalf of its membership and the industry throughout the year and during pivotal events such as Country Music Week and the CCMA Awards each September, to heighten awareness and increase exposure for Canada's country industry.
